VPN for IoT
Secure remote access to your devices
Access your IoT devices remotely via our secure VPN. By establishing a secure private connection to our platform you’ll get access to every device. Reach devices behind IoT routers and gateways. Or use the VPN to change device settings, troubleshoot, and stay in control.
What are the benefits of our IoT VPN?
Access devices
Connect to the static IP address of your SIM. Reaching your device like it’s part of your own local network.
Enhanced security
End-to-end encryption provides secure connectivity to and from SIM via the Simbase network.
Reach your LAN
Reach devices that are connect to your router or gateway. Access cameras, PLCs or any other device.
What is an IoT VPN?
There is a good reason for mobile networks to block inbound traffic to a SIM card. It prevents outside users from reaching your device. But different firewalls and Network Address Translation (CGNAT) also make it hard for to managing IoT devices remotely.
By establishing a secure private VPN connection to our platform, you extend the private network to your SIMs. The secure virtual tunnel now bypasses the firewalls and NAT to make SIMs part of your private network. Allowing to reach your devices with an added layer of security.
The best part is that Simbase handles all security and networking complexity for you. So there is no need to install or manage any software on devices yourself. Any SIM card you add becomes part of your private network. This reducing complexity in management as the number of SIM cards in your project grows.
An IoT VPN for projects of all sizes
There are different VPN options to establish a secure private connection to our platform. All options provide access to the static private IP address of the SIM card. Select the option that best fits your deployment.

-
An IoT VPN is a network security service that provides a secure connection between IoT devices and the internet. It encrypts the device's internet connection to ensure the privacy and security of data transmitted and received. This protection makes IoT devices less vulnerable to cyber attacks and unauthorized data access.
-
You should use an IoT VPN service to secure the internet connections of your IoT devices, ensuring that the data transmitted and received is encrypted and kept private. This helps protect your devices from cyber attacks and unauthorized access to sensitive data. Additionally, an IoT VPN allows secure remote access to your IoT devices, which is particularly useful for monitoring and managing your devices from any location.
-
A VPN for IoT operates by creating a secure and encrypted connection between an IoT device and the internet, ensuring the privacy and security of the data. This secure connection is managed through a VPN server that routes the IoT device's internet traffic, safeguarding it against potentialthreats. Simbase offers robust VPN protocols, including OpenVPN and IPSec, which can be selected based on the specific needs of your use case.
-
A VPN protects your devices from potrential cyber attacks, unauthorized access, encrypts the data sent and received by the device and facilitates secure remote connection to your devices
-
Based on the security requirements of your project you can choose between one of the two VPN protocols that we offer: OpenVPN and IPSec.
OpenVPN is a great flexibile open source solution that is easy to manage and ideal for scenarios where you need to securely connect remotely to your devices.
IPSec on the other hand, is better suited for establishing secure site-to-site connections and is often used for connecting entire networks or securing communication between fixed locations. -
No, an IoT VPN cannot protect against all types of cyber threats. While it effectively encrypts data transmitted to and from IoT devices, securing the internet connection against interception and eavesdropping, it does not protect against other threats such as malware installed directly on the device or physical tampering. An IoT VPN is primarily focused on securing data in transit, making it one aspect of a broader cybersecurity strategy.
-
A standard VPN is generally used to secure a connection for computers and mobile devices to protect personal or corporate data, whereas an IoT VPN is specifically designed to secure the internet connection of IoT devices, which include a wide range of connected gadgets like smart home devices, industrial sensors, and wearables. The IoT VPN must also be compatible with the hardware and software constraints of IoT devices, which often have lower processing power and storage capacity compared to standard computing devices.
