A SIM profile determines which mobile networks your SIM can use, how it connects to them, and how it's billed. Every Simbase SIM ships with a profile assigned. It's chosen when you order, so it's worth understanding the differences before you deploy, though it isn't a dead end: eUICC profiles (Blue and Yellow) can have their operator credentials updated over the air, and Multi-IMSI profiles (Black and Green) carry several operator identities on the card already.
Simbase works with several connectivity vendors rather than a single one. Each vendor brings its own set of operator agreements, and different vendors are stronger in different parts of the world. Rather than force every customer onto one compromise, Simbase packages these as colour-coded profiles, so you can pick the one whose underlying agreements best match where your devices actually are.
Redundancy. All profiles roam across multiple networks in a given country, so a device isn't stranded when one operator has a problem. Multi-IMSI profiles handle this automatically, switching between operator identities when a network degrades, though all of those identities still run on the same vendor platform. True infrastructure redundancy comes from the profile families themselves: the 89103* profiles (Black, Red, Green) and the 89445* profiles (Blue, Yellow, Purple, Cyan) run on completely separate platforms, with their own subscriber databases, signalling, and data gateways. They share no common point of failure, so a platform-level outage affecting one family can't affect the other.
Regional fit. A profile tuned for EMEA and one tuned for the US and Australia won't have the same rates or the same network quality in a given country. Choosing the profile that matches your deployment region generally means better coverage at a lower cost than a single global compromise.
